Ryan sent in his Tiemeyer track bike.  The story here isn’t the bike, but the stem.  I’ll allow Ryan to explain:

Here is my Tiemeyer Signature track build. The stem is a 3T MORE stem, custom made for the massive sprinter Mario Cipollini. It has an aluminum core wrapped with carbon and is a massive brick, but still super light! 3T only made a small number of these stems before discontinuing them because the production cost was insanely high. The whole clamping mechanism is internal and tightens by a small bolt (hidden by a cap) on the side. Very innovative design that’s super clean and minimal.

When I saw this stem, I thought “LOOK AT ALL THAT MEAT”.  Damn.

The stem can be bought here.  In a follow up email, Ryan gave me additional information (from 3T):

“The Finite Element Material analysis which helped determine the shape of the More carbon stem is only the beginning of the story. It has 15 layers of high modulus carbon fiber mated to T-700 carbon fiber strands that are positioned selectively along the lines of stress. The lower part of the More uses Kevlar fabric to distribute vertical stress and disperse vibration. The front clamp is 100% high modulus carbon for optimal clamp pressure and the internal steer tube clamp is aluminum. The resulting closed top means better protection for your headset from water and dirt. ”

Not sure what any of that means, but my brain translates it to “BALLER”.
